Steam looks white because it has condensed back into droplets
What you see rising from a bowl is not water vapour itself. The vapour meets cooler air, condenses into fine droplets, and those droplets scatter light. That is why steam turns white a little above the rim rather than clinging to it, and thins out as it rises. A solid white mass pasted onto the bowl reads as wrong.
Toppings have a conventional arrangement
A ramen bowl is composed, not scattered. Chashu pork sits near the front or left, a marinated egg is halved with the cut face up, bamboo shoots and spring onion go toward the back, and the nori sheet leans against the rim. Lifting one strand of noodles with chopsticks turns a still image into a meal in progress.
The broth colour decides which ramen it is
Shoyu is a clear brown you can see the bottom through, miso is a cloudy red-brown, tonkotsu is opaque white and hides the bottom, and shio is pale and clean. Without choosing the broth the dish is unidentifiable. Round beads of fat floating on the surface are what make it read as hot.
